Mission council votes for appeal to Kansas Supreme Court. The Mission City Council Wednesday formally voted to ask for a Kansas Supreme Court review of the recent Kansas Court of Appeals ruling that declared the city’s Transportation Utility Fee (TUF) invalid. Only Councilor Jennifer Cowdry voted against the motion to continue with the litigation. The city is currently wrestling with how to fill a budget hole left by the loss of more than $750,000 that the TUF brought in for street maintenance.
Merriam hosting Coffee With a Cop event Friday. Merriam’s Police Department will be hosting its second Coffee With a Cop event from 9:30 to 11 a.m. this Friday at the cafe inside IKEA, 6000 IKEA Way. Residents are encouraged to come to enjoy coffee and conversation about community issues or concerns with members of the Merriam police force.
