Friends and family of Tiffany Mogenson, the Prairie Village woman killed in an accident at 75th Street and Roe Avenue in October 2013, are preparing for the second annual Dizzle Sizzle 5K and Tutu Trot 1 Mile Fun Run, an event that benefits the memorial fund set up in Mogenson’s honor.
The event, which is held at Stony Point Elementary in Grain Valley, Mo., not far from The Pointe Dance Studio in Blue Springs that Mogenson founded and ran until her death, serves as both a way to honor Mogenson’s memory and help provide scholarships to young dancers.
Since the memorial fund was established, it has awarded 39 dance scholarships totaling nearly $15,000.
Stacey Chaloux, Mogenson’s sister and one of the organizers of the Dizzle Sizzle event, recently learned that one of the recipients of the scholarships is Mallory Fisher, an SM East student currently taking classes at the UMKC Conservatory of Dance. Fisher’s family lives at the intersection of 75th and Roe, right by the site of the accident.
The Dizzle Sizzle 5K and Tutu Trot 1 Mile Fun Run will start at 8 a.m. this coming Sunday, July 19.
