Water main break on Mission blocks sidewalk Wednesday. A water main break near 80th Street and Mission Road early Wednesday sent gallons and gallons of water pouring into the street and caused the closure of the sidewalk for hours. Fairway, Roeland Park to hold budget forums. Fairway will hold two forums for residents to talk about the 2016 budget. The first presentation will be at 7 p.m. July 14 and the second will be at 7 p.m. on July 16. Council representatives from Wards 1 and 2 will attend the first forum and councilors from Wards 3 and 4 will attend the second. Both forums will be held at city hall. Roeland Park traffic blitz shows results. Roeland Park police ran a traffic check after the fireworks on July 3, checking for valid licenses. Five vehicles were towed for no valid driver’s license and one arrest was made on a warrant violation and 13 citations were handed out.

American Honey filming in Mission Hills part of four-state partnership. An Associate Press article this week details the collaboration of Kansas, Missouri, Iowa and Nebraska to lure more film production to the central Midwest. The article says the filming of the Shia LaBeouf film “American Honey” in Mission Hills in May was the result of those efforts.
