Dale and Kate Beckerman came across an odd sight on their lawn a few days ago: An almost totally white bird that was shaped just like a robin:
After doing some research, Kate says she thinks the bird may be a robin exhibiting a form of color variation known as “fully leucistic.” Here’s an article she found on conditions that cause abnormal coloration in birds.
And reader Cornelia Herzer sent in this shot of her “beautiful new neighbor,” spotted in a nearby yard from her house at 65th Street and Hodges in north Prairie Village:
“What a beautiful sight early this morning,” she wrote us. “I could not believe it! It stayed for quiet some time, before running off through all the front yards!”
