At least one dead after altercation in north Overland Park

A north Overland Park neighborhood was swarmed with law enforcement vehicles after an altercation that left one man dead and another with life threatening injuries at the scene.

Overland Park police responded to a report of a shooting near 61st Terrace and Robinson Street around 10 p.m. Tuesday. When they arrive, they found one man dead with a gunshot wound. Another man was found a short distance away with serious injuries. KMBC reports that the second man died at an area hospital a short time later.

The site of the the crime is adjacent to Crestview Elementary school in Merriam and near Crestview Park. Police were still at apartment scene Wednesday morning and one Overland Park police car was stationed on the school property just west of the shooting incident.
