SM East sends four to Great Kansas City Football Coaches Association All Star Game. SM East fans had one last chance to remember the glory of the 2014 football season last week as four members of the state championship team took part in the Greater Kansas City Football Coaches Association’s annual Papa John’s Kansas-Missouri All Star Game. Graduated seniors Kyle Ball, Gunnar Englund, Sam Pottenger and Sam Huffman were part of the Kansas squad that fell 35-7 to the Missouri team.
Three SM East soccer players named to All State teams. SM East girls soccer players Emma Braasch and Adalaide Kline have been named 1st Team All State. Teammate Georgia Weigel was named to the 2nd Team.
Topeka joins Shawnee Mission, 27 other districts in LOB raise. Ten percent of the state’s school districts now have taken advantage of a change that allowed an increase in their Local Option Budgets. Shawnee Mission raised its last year and voters in January approved continuing with the higher rate. Man charged in Prairie Village bank robbery. A Kansas City man has been charged with the December robber of a Prairie Village bank. Darrell Hunter, 50, was charged in U.S. District Court with the Dec. 26 robbery of the UMB branch at 6900 Mission Road. [Charge filed in Prairie Village bank robbery – Kansas City Star]
