The state budget director told some members that without tax increase, a 6.2 percent spending cut across-the-board would be necessary including cutting $197 million to public schools.Olathe would lose $10.2 million and Blue Valley would lose $6.1 million. Mission police hold another coffee. Mission police will sponsor their second “Coffee with a Cop” this Friday at Twisted Sisters Coffee Shop on Johnson Drive. The coffee and conversation start at 8 a.m. With no speeches or agenda, the morning offers a chance to talk informally with officers.
NEJC legislator’s frustrations mount as House cancels budget discussions. Rep. Stephanie Clayton wasn’t shy about expressing her disappointment after House leaders announced they were canceling the conference meeting on the budget that had already been postponed three times Tuesday. “Oh, come on!” she Tweeted Tuesday evening. The House is now expected to convene sometime today.
Roeland Park Art Adventure on Saturday. Roeland Park will hold “Sculpture Scavenger Hunt” this Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. with prizes for everyone who participates. The art hunt has been an annual adventure for the city. The event starts at city hall where participants can get a scavenger hunt passport, follow the clues to find all of the sculptures and get stickers. The hunt for sculpture conveniently ends at R Park just when the city-wide block party is kicking off.
