The Lancer Lacrosse team will take the field tomorrow against Rockhurst with the chance to earn a berth in the Lacrosse Association of Kansas City  finals — but another local lacrosse team has already earned some major post-season hardware.

The Shawnee Mission Girls Lacrosse team, made up of Shawnee Mission School District students, defeated St. Teresa’s Academy 10-9 in the Kansas City Metro Girls Lacrosse varsity championship earlier this month. The team finished the year 14-3.

Tournament MVP Jenn Young, an SM East student who will play lacrosse at the Illinois Institute of Technology next year, was also named goalie on the All Metro Team. Shawnee Mission midfielders Ashton Hess, Callie Eldred and Margaret Krause made the All Metro Team as well.

The Lancer Lacrosse team will face off against Rockhurst in the LAKC semifinals Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at Durwood Stadium on the campus of UMKC.
