Prairie Village was the most colorful spot in northeast Johnson County Saturday morning – at least for the duration of First Annual Love Fund Color Run hosted by SM East.

The run, which wound from the pool parking lot at Harmon Park through Prairie Village neighborhoods, was a 5K event that raised money for the SM East Love Fund. The student council organized the run.

The Love Fund provides aid to students for needs their family cannot afford, such as a recent eye doctor visit and glasses for a student.

The run Saturday drew a large crowd of runners from students, parents faculty and other supporters who were doused three times with the non-toxic dye along the way.

The Color Run is a national phenomenon that began a few years ago. Prizes following the run included, naturally, the most colorful contestant a the finish.

The start of the run was marked with a cloud of color for the runners.
