SM North is hoping a current Emporia State girls basketball assistant can breathe new life into the Indians program much as he did with SM Northwest’s a few years ago.
Outgoing SM North athletic director George Sallas announced Wednesday that Brian McIntosh, who has spent the past five seasons as an assistant for the Lady Hornets at the college level, would be its new head coach. McIntosh replaces Kelly Dennis, who left the position this year after her team amassed a 4-12 record.
Prior to taking the position with Emporia State, McIntosh spent two years as the head coach of the SM Northwest girls program, where he improved the teams win total both years. He also spent time as the head coach of Madison High School’s boys team, bringing them to a class 1A regional championship.
McIntosh played for Ft. Scott Community College and Mid-America Nazarene University in college before transferring to Emporia State, where he received his undergraduate degree in 2000. McIntosh and his wife Jacy have two children.
