Crews have been busy replacing utility poles in Prairie Village.

High-speed internet making progress in Prairie Village. The utility pole replacement in Prairie Village that is part of the preparation for the introduction of Google Fiber to the city is nearing completion. City staff said this week that 100 poles are left to be replaced in the area primarily south of 79th Street. Approximately 500 poles have been replaced across the city. AT&T has not pulled permits yet for its work on high-speed service, but it has met with the city and is expected to start work soon.

SM North Benton painting on display at Nelson-Atkins. The Utah Highlands painting by Thomas Hart Benton that was purchased by the SM North class of 1957 as a class gift for the school is now hanging in the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. The painting is on loan from the SM School District. It had been removed from SM North, where it once hung, because of security concerns over its high value. Former SM East golfers named to Academic All-Big 12 teams. Graduated SM East golfers Connor Knabe and Chase Hanna are among the 26 men selected to the 2015 Academic All-Big 12 team. The colleges sophomores who play for K-State and KU, respectively, had to maintain a GPA of 3.2 or better to earn the distinction.
