Councilor Amy Miller was named the new president of the Mission City Council this week in a vote of her fellow council members.
Miller replaces Councilor Dave Shepard in the council president’s seat. Mission elects a council president for a two-year term in odd years. Miller is in her first term on the council and will be up for re-election to the council seat in 2016. Among other duties, the council president is designated to fill any unexpired term of the mayor.
Debbie Kring was named vice-president of the council. Kring had nominated Miller and Jennifer Cowdry nominated Kring. Both votes were unanimous.
Cowdry also thanked Shepard for mentoring her when she was new on the council.
