WireCo moving from KCMO to Prairie Village. The latest moving piece in the ongoing border war for metro area businesses is WireCo, a $822 million company that manufactures wire rope and other products, that announced Monday it will be leaving its current headquarters near the Kansas City International Airport to 2400 75th Street in Prairie Village. WireCo will occupy 43,500 square feet in the building, which is being remodeled by Karbank Real Estate Company. The company expects to eventually employee 185 in the building. North Leawood’s 66206 among 10 wealthiest in KC metro. The Kansas City Business Journal this week released its 2015 list of the wealthiest zip codes in Kansas City, and north Leawood’s 66206 came in at sixth overall. The median household income in the zip code is $108,280, with the median home value at $332,070. (Somewhat surprisingly, 66208, which encompasses Mission Hills and parts of north Prairie Village, didn’t make the list). SM East’s Spencer wins SM East Invitational. SM East golfer Andy Spencer shot a one-under-par 71 and won the SM East Invitational played at Milburn Country Club Monday. The Lancers’ Worth Blackman shot a 77 and finished seventh in the individual standings. SM East finished second overall in the team standings, three strokes behind winner Blue Valley North.

Mission Police Citizens Academy starts. Twenty students have started in the third annual Mission Citizens Police Academy. The class filled within two weeks after registrations started.

Google Fiber repairs in Roeland Park. Google Fiber contractors are completing restoration in Roeland Park. The restoration includes sod replacement, concrete work in the public right-of-way and asphalt repairs in streets.
