A new pet store has opened along Johnson Drive in Mission with a goal providing pet owners with “piece of mind” about the products that they are buying for their dogs and cats.
Parami Pets is now open at 5420 Johnson Drive. Parami is a Buddhist term that refers to an element of perfection, according to store owner Valerie Chan. The store is an outgrowth of Chan’s passion for animal rescue, which she has been involved with for the last few years as a volunteer.
The store carries a variety dog and cat foods, toys, treats and other accessories. In the future, Chan will expand the product line and plans to open a self service dog wash in the store. Because the space was previously a salon, the plumbing is already in place to create the wash, she said.
Chan said the products sold at the store will accommodate any pet owner in an affordable price range and give them a choice for pet food that has been researched and determined to be best for pet health. “What is the best out there to offer” drives the product line, she said.
Parami also would like to host adoption events. Chan said any rescue organization that wants to set up an event at the store can call or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Chan said that after looking for a space in lots of cities, she was attracted to the Johnson Drive store initially by the potential development of the Gateway property.
The store is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, and 11a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. It is closed on Monday.
