Roeland Park Police capture home burglary suspect after foot chase in neighborhood

Roeland Park Police captured a suspected burglar late this afternoon following a foot chase that started in the 5300 block of Clark Drive.

A homeowner walking into the home heard noises and thought it looked suspicious, according to Roeland Park Police Chief John Morris, who was on the scene. The homeowner immediately called police. When officers arrived, a foot chase took place that involved jumping over several fences.

The suspect was caught in the 4100 block of 53rd Terrace. The Johnson County Crime Scene Unit also responded to process the scene and gather evidence. The suspect is being transported to the Johnson County Detention Center. A name is not being released at this time, police said.

“Our officers did a great job with the fast response, cool radio traffic, description of the suspect and foot pursuit,” Morris said. “It is all about training and teamwork.”
