If your daily routine takes you along the same route through northeast Johnson County every day, you might not be aware of all of the projects that are popping out of the ground this spring.
Over the last several months, a number of projects have been approved in NEJC cities and are well under way. Some of them are closing in on completion. We thought it might be a good time to take a quick tour to show you what will be opening in the coming months.
The most ambitious project is likely Woodside Village in Westwood. Across from Westwood City Hall on Rainbow Blvd., construction has now gone vertical on the first phase. When completed, the project will have retail, including a new grocery store and restaurant, residential apartments and some office space. It also includes a remodel of the Woodside club facilities next door.

Mission has at least three projects under way – and no, we are not counting the East Gateway development among them. Nearing completion is The Wellstone at Mission Crossing which will have 101 units in a senior living apartment project.

Also going up in Mission is the Cornerstone Commons project where the Natural Grocers building is nearly enclosed. It will also encompass two other buildings with restaurants.

Remodeling also has started on the former Taco Bell on Johnson Drive that is being resurrected as a Starbucks. A couple of other buildings on Johnson Drive also are undergoing extensive renovations and the Neff Printing building was recently demolished to make way for a potential new senior apartment project.

Karbank Real Estate is remodeling its second building along Shawnee Mission Parkway in Mission Woods near State Line Road. All three of the office buildings in that row have undergone renovation. Karbank also is renovating a large office building on 75th Street in Prairie Village.
Roeland Park does not have construction started yet, but has three parcels in play: the Commerce Bank lot at Johnson and Roe, the northeast corner of the same intersection being planned by Mission and Roeland Park, and the southeast corner of 47th and Mission Road.
We may have missed a couple spots in this roundup, let us know is there is another site with new construction in NEJC.
