Mission police are still investigating a Sunday shooting that left one man injured at an apartment complex on the city’s north side.

Detective Dan Madden said police were called to the apartment complex on the northeast corner of 51st and Lamar just after 3 p.m. Sunday. One call reported shots fired and another caller reported a hit-and-run. When police arrived, Madden said, they found a 29-year-old male with a single gunshot wound to the wrist sitting on the stoop of the building.

The victim’s wounds were not life-threatening and he has been released from the hospital. Police are treating the case as an armed robbery and aggravated battery, Madden said. “There was a confrontation.”

Reports that it was a drive-by shooting are inaccurate, Madden said. The victim was able to talk to police. “We are getting a lot of conflicting information (about what happened),” Madden said, “and we are trying to piece it together.”

No one was in custody as of Monday afternoon. The shooting scene is directly across Lamar from the small shopping center that includes a laundromat.
