Announcement on future of Meadowbrook land set for this afternoon. VanTrust Real Estate, Johnson County Parks and Recreation and the city of Prairie Village alerted the media Wednesday evening that they plan to make an announcement on the future of the Meadowbrook Country Club property today at 4:30 p.m. in the Meadowbrook clubhouse. Former Johnson County Sun publisher Steve Rose broke the news earlier this month that the entities were in discussions to turn a significant portion of the land into a county park. On Tuesday, the Prairie Village City Council met in executive session for approximately two hours to discuss an undisclosed issue.

Street lights headed for Johnson Drive. The long-anticipated street lights are expected to be installed along Johnson Drive in the coming weeks. The fixtures have been delivered and poles should arrive next week. The city is negotiating a reduction in the price based on the contract delays. The lights were originally scheduled to be installed late last year.

Storm water project to close road in Fairway. A storm water project beginning today along Reinhardt Drive in Fairway will close that street for approximately two days. The road will be completely blocked during the construction work, so motorists are asked to find another route.
