A familiar presence above the Prairie Village treeline has come down.
Construction crews working on the extensive addition to Village Presbyterian Church on Wednesday removed the steeple that was part of the original church structure completed back in 1949. The steeple was then relocated in 1955 when the church built a new chapel.
A new steeple will be constructed not too far from where the old one sat as part of the new Welcome Center. The old steeple won’t be gone for good. Parts of the moulding from the original structure will be incorporated into construction of the new one for historical purposes.
