Spotted in northeast Johnson County: A coyote, a barred owl and a couple of Cooper’s hawks

Our question the other day about the most interesting animals you’d seen in northeast Johnson County prompted a slew of responses — many with proof in pictures.

Reader Elizabeth Chilcote sent in this shot of a coyote she came across during a run at 89th Street and Catalina in Prairie Village:

And Roeland Park resident Paul Martin sent in a number of photos of cool birds he’d spotted in his backyard, including this juvenile Cooper’s hawk he shot in January 2013…:
