Bollier, Wolf sworn in to roles with Women in Government group. Two northeast Johnson County legislators will be filling leadership roles with Women in Government, a non-profit organization that promotes networking and education among female lawmakers. Rep. Barbara Bollier was recently sworn in as the group’s state director. Sen. Kay Wolf will be the vice president of the group’s board of directors.

Shaffer farewell reception set for this evening. Prairie Village and northeast Johnson County leaders this afternoon will pay their respects to Ron Shaffer for his 25 years of service as an elected official in the city. Shaffer was sworn in Monday as the District One representative on the Johnson County Board of County Commissioners. A public reception honoring Shaffer will run from 4:30-6:30 p.m. this evening at Meadowbrook Country Club. There will be a short presentation at 6 p.m.

Wrestling fundraiser set for Roeland Park boy. A Roeland Park youngster with a rare genetic disease will be the recipient of a different kind of fundraisers this Saturday. SM North NJROTC finishes second in meet. The award-winning SM North NJROTC drill team finished second in competition against 18 other schools at Leavenworth. It was their first loss of the 2014-15 season. SM North placed in the top three in five event categories.

Prairie Village synchronized swimming interest meeting tonight. Prairie Village this evening will host a meeting to gauge interest in resurrecting its summer synchronized swimming program. The meeting will be 5:30 p.m. at Prairie Village City Hall. Families with girls who may be interested in participating in the program this summer are encouraged to attend.
