Fairway police have identified the 26-year-old man killed early Sunday morning when his car hit two parked vehicles and two trees in the 5600 block of Norwood.

The driver, Grant Oliver McClure of Overland Park, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police report that a Westwood officer attempted to stop McClure on traffic charges near Belinder Road on Shawnee Mission Parkway around 2:30 a.m. Sunday. McClure pulled into a parking lot in the area of the Fairway Shops, but then drove back onto the street and hit a parked car. He accelerated away from the spot of the first impact and turned south onto Norwood. The car lost control after striking another car, and eventually came to rest in the driveway of a home. The vehicle, a white sedan, showed immense damage.

Johnson County court records show that McClure was found guilty of a fourth driving under the influence offense in November 2009 and was sentenced to 240 days of jail time.

Fairway police continue to investigate the crash. Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to call investigators at 913-262-2364.
