Barstow takes SM East Championship Showdown tournament. It was a tough weekend for the home team at the Championship Showdown public vs. private tournament at SM East this weekend. The Lancers lost their opening round game to St. James, and then fell 54-51 to SM West in the second round on Friday. The Lancers faced rival Rockhurst on Saturday in the seventh place game, edging the Hawklets 53-52. SM North defeated Rockhurst in the tournament opener, but fell to Barstow on Friday, which propelled them into the third place game against St. James. The Indians won that game 70-66. Barstow took the tournament by defeating St. James Vianney, of Kirkwood, Mo., on Saturday.

SM East football coach named Sports in Kansas coach of the year. SM East’s Dustin Delaney can add “Coach of the Year” to his stack of honors from the 2014 football season.
