New Shawnee District Court judge is SM North graduate. Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback recently appointed Teresa Watson to become the new District Court Judge for Shawnee County. Watson is a 1988 graduate of SM North who went on to Washburn University for college and law school. [Watson knew early on she wanted to be a judge — Topeka Capital Journal]

Village Shops, Corinth, set annual Holiday Open House for Dec. 4. Merchants at the Village Shops and Corinth Square will hold their annual Holiday Open House this coming Thursday, Dec. 4. Participating merchants will be offering deals including 20 percent off purchases at select retailers. The open house events will run 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Mayor’s Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held Dec. 4 at Corinth Square.

Landscaping installed along Johnson Drive, more coming this spring. Crews this week began installing landscaping along the recently renovated Johnson Drive in Mission, but will hold off planting the rest of the beds until spring.

Demolition complete at Cornerstone Commons. The first building expected to go up on the Cornerstone Commons site in Mission is the Natural Grocers store. The restaurant building at the corner of Johnson Drive and Barkley Street will be next. Demolition is complete on the site and utility work is expected to start in December.
