Shawnee Mission begins security sessions. Monday night launched the Shawnee Mission School District’s town hall meetings to discuss its new emergency protocols. County music star Martina McBride will make a stop in Fairway later this month as part of a book tour promoting “Around the Table: Recipes and Inspiration for Gatherings Throughout the Year.” McBride will sign books from 3-5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28, at Rainy Day Books.

Roeland Park police participating in S.T.E.P. traffic enforcement. Roeland Park police over the Thanksgiving holiday will be stepping up traffic enforcement in the city. As part of the state’s Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (S.T.E.P.), Roeland Park will receive funds from the state to pay for overtime for traffic enforcement officers, who will be out focusing on stopping motorists for driving under the influence and seatbelt violation.s Roeland Park’s S.T.E.P. period will run from Nov. 24-30.
