If it’s mid-November, you’d better believe Mely is starting to think about gingerbread houses…

Reservations are now open for the 6th Annual Prairie Village Gingerbread House Decorating Party, which, in addition to be a great activity to do with your kids, helps benefit the Municipal Foundation’s Youth Scholarship Activity Fund.

Mely Ballard of Mely’s Frozen Yogurt and Ice Cream at Corinth Square bakes and assembles the gingerbread houses from scratch at her Corinth Square store, and then the young and young at heart decorate them with candy and icing at the party, held at Brighton Gardens.

The cost is $40 per house for reservations made before Dec. 1. The cost rises to $45 after Dec. 1, and all reservations must be received by noon on Dec. 5.

Funds raised by the event help pay for summer activities — like pool memberships and tennis lessons — for area children who couldn’t afford to participate otherwise.
