Shawnee Mission administrator is candidate for state job. Shawnee Mission School District Associate Superintendent Gillian Chapman is one of four finalists for the job of education commissioner in Kansas. The Topeka Capital-Journal reports that the state board of education will interview the four candidates next month. Roeland Park has drop-off bin for prescription drugs. Unused and expired prescription drugs can be dropped off in a new bin at the Roeland Park Police Department. The bin, which was paid for entirely by grant money, is in the first floor lobby and is available during normal business hours. Restrictions for what can be deposited are posted on the box.

Prairie Village earns finance award. Prairie Village has earned the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the city’s comprehensive annual financial report for the 2013 fiscal year.
