The perfect play for the Halloween weekend unfolds at SM North running this Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday: Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
The SM North theatre department will present the play each night at 7 p.m. with an additional Saturday matinee at 2 p.m. Tickets are $8.
The adaptation of the Robert Louis Stevenson novella by Jeffrey Hatcher uses four of the actors in multiple roles, including several Jekyll “alters.” The description from the SM North theatre department: “The characters take turns narrating the story which, in Hatcher’s hands, is not only about the destructive powers of science and the classic struggle between Good and Evil, but what contemporary psychologists diagnose as dissociative identity disorder. His script, however, retains many of Stevenson’s best lines. This show can definitely be scary and is not recommended for young children.”
The production features original music composed by sophomore Alex Leslie and played live during the play by violinists Annie Sinsel and Ella Kim.
