Patrons of the Paul Henson YMCA in Prairie Village will soon have a new group exercise room to enjoy, but they’ll have to endure another week or so of construction before they’re able to do so.
Construction crews are in the process of combining two racquetball courts at the facility to create a new group exercise space. YMCA spokeswoman Paula Oxler said the project is a bit past the halfway point, and should be completed by the end of the month. In the interim, the yoga and pilates classes that typically met in one of the racquetball courts that had been converted to a group class room several years ago are meeting in a conference room on the lower level.
Oxler said that after the renovations are complete, one of the original four racquetball courts at the facility will still be available for racquetball play.
“We are excited about the opportunity to have more space to offer classes to better serve our members,” Oxler said. “Classes are a great way to not only be active, but also to connect with others who may have shared interests and goals.”
