Kelley Award at the annual Kansas City Crime Commission luncheon. The award is given each year to one law enforcement administrator in the greater Kansas City area.

SM East boys soccer looks to stay on winning path at Friday’s Senior Night game. The SM East boys soccer team notched an important victory against Olathe South Tuesday, taking a 3-2 win. The Lancers will look to string that win together with another tonight, when the 7-6 SM East squad faces off against Sunflower League rival Leavenworth. The game starts at 7 p.m. at the Shawnee Mission District Soccer Complex, 95th Street and Antioch Road.

Star endorses NEJC incumbents Bollier, Clayton and Rooker for reelection. The Kansas City Star’s editorial board on Thursday released its list of recommendations for select Kansas House of Representatives races, and endorsed northeast Johnson County incumbents Barbara Bollier, Stephanie Clayton and Melissa Rooker for reelection. The Star also endorsed Jarrod Ousley in the District 24 race to replace Emily Perry, who did not run for reelection after moving out of her district.

Lancers, Stags among top five in metro football rankings. 810 Varsity’s weekly rankings of the Top 25 football teams in the Kansas City metro put SM East and Bishop Miege in select company. The 7-0 Lancers are number four, with the 6-0 Stags, who open up district play tonight, at five. Fort Osage, Rockhurst and Olathe North are in the top three spots. [810 Varsity Top 25]

SM East reschedules bonfire. The annual SM East bonfire and pep rally that was canceled on account of weather earlier this month has been rescheduled for Thursday, Oct. 23. The event will run 7-9:30 near the SM East practice field.
