Fans of simple Asian noodle dishes — and more refined Asian cuisine — have a new place to find their favorite fare in northeast Johnson County.

Lulu’s Asian Bistro, a sister concept to Lulu’s Thai Noodle Shop in the Crossroads, opened for business Tuesday at 2701 W. 47th Street in Westwood.

Owner Malisa Monyakula lives just a few blocks from the new shop, and said her love for the neighborhood was one of the reasons for turning the former auto service center into her second restaurant in the Kansas City area.

Patrons of Lulu’s Crossroads location will recognize many of the more popular dishes from that menu listed among the offerings at the new location. But the Lulu’s Asian Bistro menu also features what manager Amelia Kennedy calls “more refined” dishes, Asian-French fusion style entrees that feature high-end ingredients. Entree prices range from approximately $9 to $16.

The new restaurant will be open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday. The location will also feature an outdoor patio in the near future, though that space is not operational yet.
