Food on Friday: The art of avocado toast

Avocado

By Julia Westhoff

The alternate title of this post was Avocado Toast, You’re My Fave. Because really, there is something uniquely special about this little guy. For one thing, it fits perfectly into any hour of the day – it’s great for breakfast, brunch, lunch, snack time, midnight wandering through the kitchen time – it always hits the spot. It’s quick, filling, healthy, and dare I say it feels just a wee bit sophisticated? At least, it sure beats my usual lunch time routine of grabbing a handful of trail mix and a piece of fruit. Even the girls go ga ga for this one. Check it out – I’m pretty sure it will be your new fave as well…

Avocado Toast (You’re My Fave)

1 slice of your favorite bread, toasted (I like sesame or multi-grain the best)
1 avocado, mushed
1 squeeze of lemon juice
1 pinch of salt
1 sprinkle of chili flakes (optional)

Place avocado on top of toast, and top with other ingredients. Enjoy!
