Mission sobriety checkpoint leads to 9 DUI arrests. Police on Saturday arrested nine people on suspicion of driving under the influence at a sobriety checkpoint in Mission. Additionally, seven people were issued citations for traffic violations. Officers check a total of 414 cars and tested 59 drivers.

Sante Fe Trail planning 60th anniversary celebration. The Santa Fe Trail community will be celebrating the school’s 60th anniversary with an event Friday, Oct. 3 from 7-8:30 p.m. The anniversary celebration will feature a costume contest with participants encouraged to dress up from their favorite decade from Santa Fe Trail’s existence. The original principal’s son will be on hand to discuss the Thomas Hart Benton art that is on display in the Santa Fe Trail library.

Roeland Park police offering drug testing kits. The Roeland Park Police Department has formed an alliance with TestMyTeen.com, an organization that donates free home drug test kit vouchers to be shared anonymously with parents who need them. MainStream Coalition PAC releases endorsements. The MainStream Coalition’s Political Action Committee (MainPAC) this week released its endorsements for the November elections. In the local statehouse races, MainPAC endorsed incumbents Rep. Stephanie Clayton, Dist. 19; Rep. Barbara Bollier, Dist. 21; and Rep. Melissa Rooker, Dist. 25.
