Prairie Village man and woman arrested after attack with rubber mallet

Prairie_Village_Police_BadgePrairie Village police early this morning arrested a man and a woman on aggravated battery charges after finding a man with bruises and lacerations on his face who had been attacked with a rubber mallet.

Police responded to a resident’s call for assistance around 1:15 a.m. at a residential complex in the 5100 block of 75th Street, just east of Nall Avenue. There, they found the 43-year-old who said he had been attacked while inside his home by assailants with a rubber mallet.

Police identified two suspects in the area, a 39-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman, and took them into custody.

Police did not release the suspects’ names, but Adam Bryce Browning, 39, and Janet Patrice Herstein, 36, were booked in Johnson County Jail around 6:30 a.m. Thursday on charges that match the information released by the arresting officers. Browning faces charges of aggravated battery, reckless endangerment and bodily harm. Herstein faces charges of aggravated battery and intentional harm. Browning and Herstein share the same address in the complex.

The victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
