Officers from at least five northeast Johnson County law enforcement agencies this afternoon blocked off the entrances to the Wal-Mart complex in Roeland Park.
Media reports suggest the Wal-Mart facility was evacuated around 11:30 a.m. today after a bomb threat. Roeland Park Police Chief Edward Morris was on the scene and said he could not release information on the incident or the investigation at this time.
Officers from Roeland Park, Prairie Village, Fairway, Westwood and the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department were all on the scene as of 1 p.m.
UPDATED: Chief Morris just informed us that officers had finished a sweep of the area and determined the bomb threat to have been unfounded. Bomb squads with canine units checked the entire area, he said.
UPDATED: In addition to the agencies listed above, the Mission police department, the Olathe Bomb Squad and Canine Unit, and officers from the Federal Reserve were involved in the response.
