The Franklin Park trail will be getting repairs today.Franklin Park trail closed today. The asphalt trail at Franklin Park in Prairie Village will be closed today for repairs. Public Works crews began noticing premature deterioration of the asphalt on the trail last year just a couple of years after it had been installed as part of the Franklin Park revamp in 2010 and 2011. The work today to replace parts of the asphalt is the first phase of the project. Crews will treat the entire trail surface later this year.

Latest poll shows Orman edging Roberts, Davis up 7 on Brownback. The latest SurveyUSA poll conducted for KSN News in Wichita shows independent challenger Greg Orman up by one percent over incumbent Pat Roberts, though the poll has a margin of error of 4.2 percent. The poll was conducted after Democrat Chad Taylor announced he was stepping out of the race, but the poll did allow participants to select Taylor (Secretary of State Kris Kobach has said his name will remain on the ballot). In the poll, Taylor drew 10 percent and Roberts drew 36 percent. Orman drew 37 percent. The poll also showed Democrat Paul Davis maintaining a lead over Brownback, 47-40.

NRA endorses Pat Roberts. The National Rifle Association on Monday announced its endorsement of incumbent Sen. Pat Roberts in his race against independent challenger Greg Orman. “Pat is the only ally and battle-tested candidate in this race who has consistently protected our Second Amendment freedoms,” said Chris W. Cox, chairman of the NRA Political Victory Fund. “When President Obama sought to undermine our Second Amendment freedoms, Pat stood his ground and earned the trust of his constituents in Kansas.”

Broadmoor open again by post office. Water and sewer connections have been completed for the Welstone senior apartment project. That means Broadmoor in front of the Shawnee Mission Post Office is open to through traffic again.

Leawood Police Department holding open house. Area residents interested in learning more about the operations of the Leawood Police Department will have an opportunity tomorrow evening. The Leawood PD is hosting an open house at the Leawood Justice Center, 4201 Town Center Drive, from 5-8 p.m. As part of the open house, the department will be conducting a crime scene investigation at the home of three bears who reported a break in (Goldilocks is the prime suspect).
