
Summer is coming to an end and many swimming pools are closing up for the season after this weekend. But if you want to treat your dog to a season-ending paddle around the pool, Mission and Leawood can accommodate.
Next Tuesday night, both municipal pools will open for canine swims after they have closed up for the human-only swims. The 10th annual “Doggie Dunk” starts at the Leawood Aquatic Center at 5 p.m. and runs to 7 p.m. The charge is $5 per dog or $3 for those who can show they live in Leawood. No humans in the pool and vendors with dog products will be on hand to make it even more special for your dog.
In Mission, the brand new family aquatic center welcomes dogs to its first “Pool Party for Pooches” in two sessions Tuesday: from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. or 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. Dogs must be licensed and registered and the cost is $5 per dog.
The Mission pool is at 5930 W. 61st St. and the Leawood pool is at 10601 Lee Blvd. And that Leawoof Dog Park that is in the works – projections are for a mid-September opening.
