KU Kickoff to start at 6 p.m. at Corinth Square. University of Kansas football faithful will have their chance to hear from the head football coach and other Jayhawk luminaries tonight at the KU Kickoff. The ninth annual pep rally begins at 6 p.m. and will feature appearance by Charlie Weis as well as women’s head basketball coach Bonnie Henrickson. The band Coversmith will provide entertainment from 8-10 p.m.
Equipment failure leads to power outage in Prairie Village area. KCP&L reported that a failed piece of equipment cause the power outage Thursday afternoon that led to more than 1,200 customers without power. The outage began just before 3 p.m. and crews had power restored just before 4 p.m. The outage impacted traffic lights along Mission Road, where police officers stepped in to direct traffic.
Lancer Dancers pancake breakfast set for Saturday. The annual Lancer Dancers pancake breakfast is this Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon in the SM East auxiliary gym. Tickets for the all-you-can-eat breakfast from Chris Cakes are $6 in advance and $7 at the door. Both the varsity and junior varsity teams will be performing. The annual breakfast is one of the biggest fundraisers for the year that helps the team pay for travel to competitions like the National Dance Alliance championships (where they tend to rock).
