Food on Friday: It’s hot (fudge)!

Hot fudge
Hot fudge can turn a delicious dish of ice cream into something even more delicious, if that’s possible.

By Julia Westhoff

We knew this day would come, didn’t we? We’ve been spoiled rotten by this mild summer, only to be slammed by the heat with fall just around the corner. No worries, though, I’ll just drown my sorrows in ice cream like I always do. And I’ll make it extra special by topping it with this scrumptious hot fudge.

It’s so good! It’s so easy! I know I always say that, but in this case it’s especially true. It takes 10 minutes and just three ingredients that you probably have on hand already.

Is there a summer equivalent to hibernation? If so, that’s what I’m doing. Just give me a spoon, a jar of this stuff, and I’ll see you when we get back down to the 80s.

Stir in the chocolate chips and melt.
Add the sweetened condensed milk.
Stir over medium heat for 5-10 minutes until all ingredients have fully combined.
Store any leftovers in the refrigerator.
