Chase Hanna in lead as Kansas Amateur wraps up this weekend at Mission Hills Country Club. SM East grad and incoming University of Kansas sophomore Chase Hanna is in the driver’s seat as he looks to defend his title at the Kansas Amateur golf tournament, being held this year at Mission Hills Country Club. Hanna shot a 64 and 68 in the first two rounds of the tourney to earn the top spot in the match play bracket. He defeated David Jackson of Lansing in the match play round of 32 Thursday. Alex Higgs of Overland Park, who plays for Southern Methodist University, is in second in the overall stroke standings. Mission Hills native Bryan Norton is tied for third with two other players at -1. You can find the match play bracket here.

Poll finds Davis extends lead over Brownback in race for Kansas Governor. A poll released Thursday by KSN-TV finds that Democrat Paul Davis has widened his lead over incumbent Republican Sam Brownback. The poll, fielded by SurveyUSA, finds that Davis leads Brownback 48-40 with a margin of error of 2.9 percent. Barn Players holds acting class. The Barn Players Theater will host a one-day acting boot camp Saturday. The master acting class will be taught by Yonda Davis, co-director of a young actors program in Los Angeles – Chubbuck Studios. The cost is $25 for the full day of training. Roeland Park R Park items for sale. The fundraising committee to support the development of R Park in Roeland Park has a number of items for sale with proceeds going to the park effort. Among the items available are Roasterie’s “R Park Special Blend” coffee in a variety of different package sizes, R Park T-shirts and R Park aprons.
