SM East softball standouts represent in Mo-Kan All Star Game. SM East softball players Rowan Turner and Erin McGinley represented the Kansas side of the line in the Mo-Kan All Star Game Monday night. Turner pitched the first two innings of the first game and then four in the second. McGinely, an outfielder headed to play at the University of Kansas next year, notched a stolen base. Kansas lost both games in the event.
“Dump the Pump” with free ride on The JO Thursday. Thursday is national “Dump the Pump Day,” when public transit advocates across the country encourage people to take a day off from their cars. To help recognize the occasion, The JO is offering free rides this Thursday. “No special pass or other action required — just get on board and travel to where you need to go!” said the county’s information officer Jody Hanson in an email. “You can find a route and get more information at www.thejo.com.”
Johnson County Wastewater releases annual report. Johnson County Wastewater has released its 2013 Annual Report, giving an overview of its costs and production. The report finds that JCW provided customers the lowest wastewater treatment rates in the metro area and that it provided sanitary sewer service to more than 500,000 people. Leawood approves first CID. The city of Leawood on Monday approved that municipality’s first Community Improvement District agreement, allowing the owners of the Camelot Court shopping center at 119th and Roe Avenue to finance the redevelopment of the center.
