The man accused of manslaughter in the massive wreck that led to the death of a Prairie Village woman in October 2013 now faces felony murder charges.

Roy Lee Maney was scheduled to appear in a Johnson County courtroom a week from tomorrow for a preliminary hearing to face involuntary manslaughter charges for being suspected of driving under the influence prior to the wreck that killed Prairie Village resident Tiffany Mogenson.

On Monday, the Johnson County district attorney’s office amended its charges against Maney to 1st degree murder — a move that will likely push back the date of Maney’s trial and ups the stakes of what he could face as punishment.

He also now faces charges of failing to stop at the site of a known death, aggravated battery, and a felony count of obstructing the legal process for leaving the scene of the crime.

A new preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 18, 2014.
