McConwell’s announcement last month that she was considering entering the race caused some pushback from members of the northeast Johnson County political establishment, who urged her not to go back on her word to PV Mayor Ron Shaffer that she would stay out of the contest. But, as McConwell told us in March, she feels that the all-male board could benefit from the perspective of a woman, and that she had a lot of passion for the position.
With the entry last week of political newcomer Alex DiCarlo, the race now has three candidates.
