The gun bill signed by Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback last week will essentially render Prairie Village’s ban on openly carried weapons moot — meaning people could legally wear a firearm on their hip in public spaces like city parks. Land owners could still restrict people from bringing openly carried weapons onto their private property, however.
Do you think the new regulations — or lack thereof — will have an impact on day-to-day life in Prairie Village? Do you expect to see people actually wearing openly carried weapons out in public? I you saw someone in public wearing an openly carried weapon, would it concern you? If so, why? If not, why not?
