Man pulled from burning car in Prairie Village early Monday. Prairie Village police received a call around 2 a.m. Monday with reports of a burning car near the intersection of 79th Street and Belinder Ave. They arrived on the scene to find the car was occupied by one man. The officers put the fire out, and then Consolidated Fire District No. 2 helped extricate the man from the car. He was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.

SM East lacrosse team dominates Blue Valley North. SM East’s lacrosse team made quick work of Blue Valley North over the weekend, beating the Mustangs 19-1. The win puts SM East at 9-3 on the season, and back atop the Lacrosse Association of Kansas City Standings. SM East has been on an offensive binge, outscoring opponents 108-28 over the past six games, with 10 of the opponents’ points coming from Rockhurst in the Lancers’ 9-10 loss. SM East’s John Aliber scored nine of the Lancers’ 19 goals against the Mustangs.

SM East boys tennis takes district tournament. SM East’s boys tennis team put in a strong showing at the Shawnee Mission District Tournament, walking away with the team, singles and doubles titles. SM East had 39 team points, besting second place SM Northwest by 11. SM North finished fifth in the team competition. Lancer singles player Brooks Kendall took the individual title by knocking off SM Northwest’s Calvin Garland. SM East duo Reese Goulding and Jamie McDonald won the doubles title.
