Seventeen-year-old international pop sensation Lorde gave a concert at the Midland Friday, making her first visit to the city where the photo that served as the inspiration for her hit single “Royals” was taken.
And to make sure she felt welcome, Mission Hills’ resident George Brett, whose autograph session as depicted by National Geographic got the word “Royals” worming around in Lorde’s head, decided to close the circle by sending her an autographed jersey — much like the one he’s wearing in the now famous picture:
