The SM North Theatre and Music Departments will present Seussical, a musical, Friday and Saturday, bringing to life a host of favorite Dr. Seuss characters.

The cast features 41 SM North high school students and 47 fourth, fifth and sixth graders from the North area elementary schools as the Whos, with one Roesland kindergarten student as the Elephant Bird. Performances will be at 7 p.m. both nights with an additional 2 p.m. matinee on Saturday, March 8. Tickets are $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for high school age and younger.

The story revolves around Horton the Elephant, who finds himself faced with a double challenge–not only must he protect his tiny friend Jojo (and all the invisible Whos) from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left to his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La  Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him, the only one who recognizes “his kind and his powerful heart.” Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant.

Seussical is one of the most performed shows in the U.S. Seating is general admission and tickets may be purchased at the door.
