The cancer center offers a wide array of oncology services, including medical oncology, radiation oncology, infusion therapies and other on-site treatments and cancer support services. The center has a PET/CT scanner to provide advanced imaging.
Medical oncologist Dr. Prasanth Reddy and radiation oncologist Dr. Michael Hughes lead the center. Dr. Samuel Caughron is part of the team and is one of fewer than 300 physicians in the world certified in molecular genetic pathology. Becca Bell is the program director.
The center offers other types of support including wigs, scarves and prosthetics available through the Santé Image Renewal Boutique. The center also offers survivorship, spiritual, wellness and fitness programs designed to treat the whole patient.
“Our commitment to innovation has never been more evident than in the recent growth of our oncology services,” said Ken Bacon, Shawnee Mission Medical Center President and Chief Executive Officer. “Patients are now able to receive the full continuum of care – from diagnosis, through inpatient and outpatient services – all at one location.”
Shawnee Mission has 504 beds with nearly 20,000 inpatient admissions and more than 200,000 outpatient admissions each year.
