Alan Gaylin, the restauranteur who kicked off a string of recent successes with the opening of BRGR at Corinth Square in Prairie Village, can add a new award to his mantel.
On Saturday, the Greater Kansas City Restaurant Association honored Gaylin as its restauranteur of the year at its Annual Inaugural Ball.
Gaylin’s company, Bread & Butter Concepts, has three restaurants in the northeast Johnson County area — BRGR Kitchen + Bar, Urban Table and Taco Republic — with two additional restaurants in the Kansas City area, Gram & Dun on the Plaza and another BRGR Kitchen + Bar location in the Power & Light District.
Gaylin got his start in the restaurant business while attending the University of Texas, taking on positions of increasing responsibility after graduation. He was senior vice president of operations for Houlihan’s, and was involved in the rebranding of that company.
