The trio of Kansas representatives who often present a more moderate front to the most conservative elements of the state Republican party jointly filed for re-election Thursday.

State Reps. Barbara Bollier, Stephanie Clayton and Melissa Rooker represent the 21st, 19th and 25th districts, respectively. They are the only candidates to have filed for their seats at present.

Clayton and Rooker will both be seeking their second terms in office. Bollier will be seeking a third full term. (She served part of a term prior to her 2010 election after former Rep. Terrie Huntington left her seat to fill the Senate seat being vacated by David Wysong).

“We are excited to have the opportunity to serve the citizens of Northeast Johnson County,” read a joint statement released by the three Thursday. “We are unified in our dedication to excellent public schools, a strong local economy, and an outstanding quality of life.”

Rep. Emily Perry, a Democrat whose 24th district includes parts of Mission, has not filed for reelection to date. The state primary for House seats will be Aug. 2.
